May 2008 Update

StudentsWe want to thank God for his faithfulness, and thank you for your prayer and financial support during the YLTS/DTS 2007-2008.

It has been two month, since our DTS in Phnom Penh finished. Nine students graduated, five of them will be on staff with us; in the Children at Risk team, in the Youth Assistant Project, and as DTS staff. One student will go to bible school and the other four will go back to serve God in their churches and in an orphanage.

We can see the growth in the students, for example in trusting God. Especially on outreach when the team experienced difficulties they were able to praise God instead of complaining. Trusting God for financial provision for their own outreach fee, which was high because they went outside of Cambodia. God was faithful. It is amazing to see how the students want to serve God. For example Raa who went back to his hometown for the break and he started to gather 11 young people for Bible study in his house. It is wonderful how they put in practice what they learnt. 2 of these young people are now interested in joining the school in October.

Group ShotWe expect to start the next school in October 2008 as an international one. It will be Cambodian and foreigners. Staff training will begin in September. We would appreciate your prayer because running the school international will be more challenging than the local one, but after we prayed we felt God leading us in this way. We would need at least one international male staff, the language will be one of the biggest issue. However, we belief that living together as foreigners and Cambodians will help to see that even though we are different we are the same in heart and in the eyes of God. From June 24 to August 10 I will be in Montana America for DTS Equip training. I hope to get more understanding about DTS, to learn from other leaders experiences and to learn more about the western culture. My school fee, ticket, food and accommodation are cover by a scholarship, which is a miracle of God.

After coming back to Cambodia I will start with staff training and Discipleship Training Week in Preah Vihear Province.

Just an encouragement that God hears prayers…
One cool story happened with a DTS outreach team from New Zealand. I went as a translator to the hill tribe province in Cambodia. We visited one village three and half hours by pickup truck in the jungle. We did a presentation and sharing in the pastors house. The pastor stood up and began to tell us, that she has been praying for long time, since she became a Christian, that one day God will send a team to her village. She got so excited to see us and took us from house to house to share with the people about Jesus. So we were an answer for prayer for her.

On the other hand the Team had back in New Zealand prayed where to go and God had led them to work with tribes in Cambodia. It is really amazing how our God answered the lady’s prayer in the jungle through sending the team from New Zealand.

Prayer Requests:
1 For the right place to rent for our next school
2 For the right students and right speaker who are willing to come
3 For more prayer support and financial support for our 5 staffs
4 For prayer for me first time going to America Thank you for being part of God’s vision to disciple young people in Cambodia May the Lord bless you

In His love,
Dina Sor
School leader Phnom Penh DTS 2007

Thanks your prayers and support!

Special Opportunity

God is rapidly transforming the nation of Cambodia, and we are so excited to be a part of His work here. More and more young Khmer (Cambodian) disciples are following His call to serve Him in this place.

As of now, 80% of the population is under the age of 30, and we believe the nation of Cambodia can be changed in this one generation. God is steadily building His kingdom and raising up young Khmer leaders. Most of them don’t have any support and we hope that will change soon.

Will you pray about supporting them?

Each one needs about $100 each month. If you can only give $10 or $15 regularly, it would help a great deal. Whatever God lays on your heart.
